Q&A - All you need to know
Learn more about Cosmetic Injections at SILK Laser with Nurse, Caroline Bell.
What made you start a career in cosmetic nursing?
I decided to become a cosmetic nurse because it combined two things, I am good at - art and science. I had so much experience and knowledge in nursing and an eye for what as humans we consider to be beautiful in people, it was the natural marriage of my talents and interests.
How long have you been in the beauty and injectables industry?
I have been in the beauty and nursing industry for over 35 years. After working in various nursing roles and setting up my own business consulting on skin care products, I decided to change the direction of my career to study to become a cosmetic injector and have been doing this for a few years now and I’m loving it.
What do you love most about the job?
It would have to be the ‘before and after photos’ of my clients. We all get used to looking at ourselves, it’s easy to forget what you looked like before treatment. I love the moment when a client gets to compare the photos and really see the amazing results.
Do you still believe there is a stigma surrounding injectables?
Absolutely. That’s a hard one to get past. There are so much talk and media focus around ‘botched’ results, but there are endless numbers of great results around Australia. Therefore, here at SILK, knowledge and education is a really important part of my client consultations. If a treatment is not suitable for a client, I discuss a better option and show photos of treatments I have given, to show them what a treatment might look like for them.
What has been the biggest shift in cosmetic injectables since you started?
The biggest shift - structured education programs. There are no excuses for injectors not to be accessing current, evidence-based research and education programs provided by exceptional leaders in the field. Injectables - anti-wrinkle and filler injections - are extremely safe and effective when in the hands of a well trained and experienced injector. I welcome and encourage clients to ask me about my qualifications and education - I love to learn and I want my client’s to benefit from that.
What is your favourite thing about working on the Sunshine Coast?
The people - those I work with, those that work in other businesses and those that come to the clinic. Our family has grown up here and I’m surrounded by people I know and understand.
Why should client’s choose SILK Laser Clinics?
Customer service and care. Our clinic at Sunshine Plaza is acknowledged both within the company and by our client’s, as a shining star when it comes to providing great service that meets their needs - every time.
What is the best advise you have given your clients?
Ask lots of questions. You can’t know what you don’t know and when you do know – you’ll wonder why you didn’t start having “tweakments” sooner.
What would you say your main demographic is?
There really isn’t a standout demographic, I have male and female clients of all ages who visit me for various reasons such as: skin concerns, preventative treatments, aging, or treatments to amplify their natural features. It makes my work very interesting!
